bIKE-IN arena, MANtua 2020, the first one in the world
The very first Bike-in Arena in the world was born in Mantua, located in the Lombardy region, one of the areas most stricken by the first Covid-19 outbreak.
When the bike-in concept was presented, it was immediately very welcomed by Mattia Palazzi, mayor of Mantua, who has always had a careful eye on the environment and on the sustainable mobility, including the increase of the the number of bicycle lanes and pedestrian areas available in the city.
Thanks to “U. Artioli” Mantova Capitale Europea Foundation and the City Council of Mantua, the Bike-In had its first official Arena in record time. So, Mantua was able to offer to its citizens and visitors two months of live shows and events safety, enhancing the city's urban green areas.
Campo Canoa, the area chosen to host the Bike-in Arena, is a green area overlooking a lake. It’s very close to the city center and it’s directly connected to it by a bicycle lane. In about 7 minutes people can reach the city riding their bikes and this feature allows citizens to rediscover the pleasure of enjoying a unique cultural and environmental heritage, in a background capable of communicating with the surrounding landscape perfectly.
Between July, 10th 2020 and September, 13th 2020, The Bike-In Arena hosted 53 events, involving 16 between associations, companies and promoters which operate in the live entertainment industry and that are mainly based in Mantua area, in order to create job for those locals who could not worked because of the health emergency, and 7 sponsors and media partners.
